Prenatal Visits

Informative and Compassionate

Whether hired or not, I offer all potential clients a free consultation.  It is very important to interview a couple doulas before you hire one, you want someone who you click with.  Birth is a very vulnerable time in a woman's life and you want to feel comfortable with your birth team.

When hired, I offer two to three prenatal visits (depending on the package you choose) where we will cover the ins and outs of typical labor progression, your likes and dislikes for stress relief and comfort, we will practice a variety of comfort measures and labor positions to see what you like, and we will also take some time to plan for your postpartum experience. I also make sure to involve your partner in as much of the practice as possible.

Labor Support

Here for You

When labor starts and you're ready for my help, I will join you at either your home or the hospital (whichever we've decided on).  I will provide whatever physical, informational, and emotional support needed throughout the duration of labor and for the immediate postpartum time.  I bring along my "doula bag" which is full of useful tools that we can use during labor.

Continued Care

I stay for the immediate postpartum to help breastfeeding get off to a good start and to make sure the family is comfortable and settled after labor and birth.  I continue to check in and make sure that everything is going well and am always available for questions!  About a week after the birth, I will visit your for a postpartum meeting just to make sure that the family is adjusting to the changes, that Mom is getting adequate rest and nutrition, assist with any breastfeeding issues, make sure Mom is healing well, offer what help I can, and provide references for what I can't help with!
